Asante Kotoko beats Bechem United to prove critics wrong

Asante Kotoko opened matchday 12 at their new home ground in Accra. They welcomed Bechem United at Accra Sports Stadium. Asante Kotoko trashed Bechem United by 3 – 1.

The porcupine warriors had become a subject for debate after their back to back defeats to Aduana Stars on matchday 11 in the Ghana Premier League and another defeat to division one side, Asokwa Depotivo in the MTN FA cup last week.

After their defeat to Asokwa Depotivo, the Chairman of the club, Dr. Kwame Kyei was very furious with the entire players and the backroom staff. In a leaked audio, the bankroller of the club expressed his disgust for the abysmal performance against the division one side.

Dr. Kwame Kyei cautioned the players and the backroom staff to put in extra efforts to return to winning ways.

Many supporters were also not happy with the club’s recent performance and took to the radio and social media to vent their anger. Some believed that if that was how the players were going to perform, then they should stop thinking about winning this year’s premier league.

The players wanting to prove everyone wrong put up an impressive performance against Bechem United to beat them by 3 goals to 1.

The win sees Asante Kotoko move to the 2nd position behind AshantiGold who has a game at hand.

Martin Antwi equalized for the Porcupine Warriors after Wontah Hafiz opened the scoreline for the visitors.

Augustine Okrah double the lead for Kotoko just before the stroke of half time. Imoro Ibrahim made it three 3 for the Kum Apem boys when he sent free-kick on the edge of the penalty box into the net.
