Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has released a press on their official mouthpiece, Kotoko Express App to inform the general public that they will be playing their remaining home games in Accra.
The National Sports Authority (NSA) earlier this week closed down all national stadiums for renovation works. The stadiums will be completed in October this year.
The planned renovation has affected the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Esipon in Takoradi and the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
This meant that Kumasi based clubs, Asante Kotoko and King Faisal needed to find alternative places to serve as their home grounds.
Earlier information stated that Asante Kotoko SC was going to use Obuasi Lenclay Park for their home games and subsequent information indicated that Kotoko was planning to use their training ground at Adako Jachie.
The club has released an official statement to make its decision known to it supporters and the general public. They have decided to use the Accra Sports Stadium as their home grounds for the rest of the season.
The reason behind their decision is not yet known as we wait for further clarification from the management of the club.
Rumours reaching ghsoop indicates that the club (Asante Kotoko) will move to camp in Accra. This is to reduce cost of transportation on matchdays and the stress that comes with it. However, we cannot confirm if this is true.
The real challenge will now be how the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will manage the fixtures and match venues. This is because four other clubs are already using the Accra Sports Stadium as their home ground.
