Ghana crashes out of the 2020 CHAN tournament.

The Black Stars B has for the third successive time failed to qualify for the CHAN tournament. In the 2016 edition, Cote d’Ivoire knocked the Black Stars B out and in the 2018 edition Burkina Faso denied them the qualification to the tournament.

Earlier today, the two of them met again for the final decider to seek qualification to the 2020 edition. The match ended goaless which means the Burkinabes have qualified after they beat the Black Stars by 1 – 0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi back in September.

The late goal from Pognongo Yannick in the first leg in Kumasi has proved to be the decider of the game between the two cross border neighbours. The second leg at Stade du 4 Aout in Ouagadougou ended in a barren draw and this means that the Burkinabes have secured their place in this years tournament.

Burkina Faso joins host Cameroon, Congo, DR Congo, Mali, Morocco, Tunisia, Togo, Niger, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe for the 6th edition of the biennial championship.

The 16-team CHAN 2020 tournament is scheduled to start between January and February of next year in venues like Yaounde, Duoala, Garoua and Bafousssan.
