Gyamfi’s brace sinks Legon Cities

Asante Kotoko on matchday 2 of the Ghana Premier League was hosted by Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The host started the match on a higher note and took the lead on the 11th minute. Greek international Papadopoulos Panayotis connected a long pass from Romeo Oppong to make it 1 – 0 against the Asante Kotoko.

Asante Kotoko lifted their game and on the 33rd minute, winger Augustine Okrah lobbed the ball over Cities goalkeeper after a through pass from Songne Yocouba. The first half ended with one goal apiece.

Asante Kotoko piled pressure on the Legon cities to at the beginning of the second half. Their impressive performance paid off on the 51st minute when Emmanuel Gyamfi intercepted a back pass from Suleman and kicked the ball into the left bottom corner to make it 2 – 1 in favour of Kotoko.

On the 60th minute, Songne Yacouba took on two Legon Cities defenders and provided a cross that took a deflection and landed on Emmanuel Gyamfi for a header into the net making it a brace for him.

The match ended with Asante Kotoko taking all the three points. The win takes Kotoko to the top of the league table after two matches.

Songne Yacouba was voted the MVP of the match.
