Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko have been held to a 1-1 draw by Techiman Eleven Wonders this evening following an unimpressive performance from the side.
The Kumasi-based club hosted the club from Techiman at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday in what is a Matchday 1 fixture of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.
In a first half where Asante Kotoko flattered to deceive, they fortunately went into the break on level pegging after goalkeeper Felix Annan had pulled off some good saves to deny Eleven Wonders from scoring.
After recess, Asante Kotoko made the quality in the team count as the side took the lead in the 54th minute. Striker Kwame Poku picked a loose ball in the area of the opponent and planted his strike into the back of the net.
Now with the momentum, the home team hoped to capitalize but were overpowered by the visiting team that had been the better side all evening.
With 15 minutes to the end of the match, Eleven Wonders finally saw their efforts in the evening paying off. Substitute Prince Okraku made his fresh legs count as he scored with a sweet strike.
The evenly-matched game that ensued from there on could not produce any additional goals, forcing both teams to settle for a point each at the end of the 90 minutes.
