Kotoko gets a narrow win over San Pedro.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko escaped with a skin of the teeth after managing a narrow 1 – 0 win against their Ivorian counterparts San Pedro Football Club.

The Kumasi based club had the opportunity to make amends after the match was called off on Sunday. The match could not continue in the second half after a heavy downpour made it difficult to play on the pitch and as per the FIFA regulations the match had to be postponed to the next day.

The match was a keenly contested one and both teams managed to test each others’ goalkeepers but failed to break the deadlock in the first half.

The match was set for a draw before Asante Kotoko’s striker, Songne Yacouba, was brought down inside the 18-yard box during the stoppage time. The referee whistled for a penalty and Naby Keita calmly sent the ball inside the net.

This means Kumasi Asante Kotoko will go to the final leg of the tie with one goal up. This will be a difficult task as the visitors have proved to be a formidable side.

Do you fancy Asante Kotoko’s chances of qualifying to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup away from home?
