In their quest to bring back the love of football to the country, the Black Stars showed an impressive performance against the South Africans. The journey towards this match saw the national team players engaging with the local people in the Central Region.

The Ministry of Sports also revised the gate fees for the match in a bid to encourage more fans to show up at the stadium and the fans did not disappoint. The stadium was filled to capacity and the hopeful fans expected nothing but the best from the Black Stars.

Thomas Partey broke the deadlock on the 36th minute after the South African goalkeeper had put up a show-stopping performance to deny the stars at goal.

The Black Stars built up their momentum in the second half and piled a lot of pressure on the Bafana Bafana but failed to put the ball in the net. On the 80th minute, debutant Mohammed Kudus scored a magnificent goal to give the Black Stars a 2 – 0 lead.

After the final whistle, the excited fans stormed the pitch to congratulate the players. The number of people who got onto the field was overwhelming and the players had to be rushed to the dressing room and the security team had to disperse the spectators.

Comparing the Cape Coast Stadium to other national stadiums in the country, it is easier for any fan to get onto the pitch at any time since there is no fence around the inner perimeter. It is high time the government checks to prevent any unforeseen circumstance.
