The Constitution allows us to attack anyone who prevents EC from doing its work – Abronye

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), popularly known as Abronye made this claim in an interview on Net 2 TV on Wednesday morning. He threatened to physically assault anyone who dared to prevent the Electoral Commission from compiling the new Voter’s Register.

His comments come the wake of several threats from the National Democratic Congress to the Electoral Commission (EC).

He quoted Article 3 of the 1992 constitution which talks about the Defence of the constitution.

He stated that the Electoral Commission is under the Umbrella of the Executive arm of government and therefore anyone who tries to prevent them from working commits treason.

He further reiterated that they are ready to protect the Constitution and if anyone dared to disrupt the complition of the new voter’s Register.

He added that if they kill anyone in the course of protecting the constitution, they will not be charged because the constitution says so.

Abronye sent a strong warning to any individual or groups of peraons who are planning to cause violence at the polling stations to desist from it or face the consequences.
